The “Standards for the Protection of Personal Information of Residents of the Commonwealth” (201 CMR 17.00) was instituted in Massachusetts in 2010. This rule sets standards that all who own, license, store, or maintain personal information about a Massachusetts resident must follow.
When you visit our site, we cannot collect any personally identifiable information about you if you only browse, read pages, or download content. Some areas of the site, such as contact and membership forms, may request personal information from you, including name, address, phone number, or e-mail address. Hoffmann Bird Club may use this information to provide you with requested information or to contact you regarding club events and news. You may request to be removed or unsubscribed from e-mail and postal mail at any time by contacting us.
Our website automatically logs information such as the IP address and browser type of all visitors to measure our website’s usage. This data is not viewable to Hoffmann Bird Club website administrators.
Member information is not sold, rented, or exchanged with third parties unless previously authorized by the member.
Please get in touch with us with any changes to your name, mailing address, email address, or phone number to help ensure the accuracy of your information. Please also contact us if you would like to review or remove information that has been collected by us.
Hoffmann Bird Club uses appropriate security measures to protect against loss or misuse of personal information collected in person and online. Any personal information is distributed only among club leadership with legitimate rationale.
Hoffmann Bird Club never stores credit card information. All credit transactions (dues, donations, and others) are transmitted over the Internet using a third-party processing company. This company uses industry-standard SSL encryption, complies with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS), and does not use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.
Cookies are small pieces of data stored in text files stored on your computer or other device when websites are loaded in a browser. They are widely used to “remember” you and your preferences, either for a single visit (through a “session cookie”) or for multiple repeat visits (using a “persistent cookie”). They ensure a consistent and efficient experience for visitors and perform essential functions. Cookies may be set by the site that you are visiting (known as “first party cookies”) or by third parties, such as those who serve content or provide advertising or analytics services on the website (“third party cookies”).
Both websites and HTML emails may also contain tracking technologies such as “web beacons” or “pixels.” These are typically small transparent images that provide us with statistics for similar purposes as cookies. They are often used in conjunction with cookies, though they are not stored on your computer similarly. As a result, if you turn off cookies, web beacons may still load, but their functionality will be restricted.

Online visitors under 13 should not submit personal information to us without permission from a parent or legal guardian.
